Christmas Day

Next year we are all going to tell each other what we are getting Nana for Christmas..as you can see we all secretly got her scarves. I think she has one for each day of the week now...she was excited and loved them all though.

Kirstie couldn't sleep all night on Christmas Eve. I know this because I slept in the same room and I couldn't sleep either :) She got as her main gift from Santa, nintendo DS video games that she picked out.

Dylan's big gift from Santa was a new phone that he picked out...

Megan's main gift from Santa was a new kodak camera! YEEHAAAW

Mommy got an MP3Player from daddy...

Daddy got some new badly needed scriptures.

Papa got slippers, cologne, and a Washington t-shirt and nana and papa got a cool tile plaque from Aunt Karen.

Christmas Call from "Down Under"

(Happy Mom) Today was Christmas day in New Zealand so Elder Berge got to call home. It was great to hear his voice and visit with him. We all sang "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" to him and then we had a chance to chat with him for a few minutes. He sounds like he's just next door even though he's 8, 000 miles away. He got all of his care packages and was planning a fun day of visiting people and having barbeque later. Guess they don't do turkey in NZ!

Christmas Dolls Around the World

For years, Grandma Berge has taught classes about Christmas Around the World, and a year or so ago, Nana started making ornament dolls from around the world. Everyone knows how I love to craft, so I convinced Nana to teach me how to make them. Here are the ones I made. They are: Scottish, Peruvian, Spanish, Indian, and Polish.

Paper chains with Papa

Kirstie spent a week with Nana and Papa in N.C. before the rest of the family arrived for Christmas. They had a fun time decorating. Papa taught Kirstie about one of the traditions from his childhood. He took her to the store for construction paper and they came home and made loads of paper chains to string round the great room. Later, he shared what they'd done with Auntie Ro and this is her email reply:
"Gosh that takes me back. But in the old days we sometimes had to even colour the paper ourselves because we could only get white paper. I also remember making stars with tin foil. I can recall the mounting exciting from the moment Mum hung those silver bells and beads on the mirror in the lounge- they were the decorations they had before the war and she went on using them until she went into the nursing home. I believe Judy still has them. Ah, those were the days!"

Purple fuzzy socks!

I love Them! In these photos they look blue but they are really purple.They are really warm and comfortable. Thank you, Sister Lawton. You're the Best!

21 Days till Christmas..

I can't believe it is December! It came so quickly. I also cannot believe it's ALMOST Christmas! Time flies!!!Tonight we are decorating our house a little bit to make it more Christmasy!
